Certified Yoga Teacher E - RYT @200 hours
Aly has been involved in the health and fitness industry for over 30 years, of which, the last 10 have been predominantly devoted to teaching yoga. Aly is fully certified at 200 hours teacher training and is a registered Yoga Alliance member and together, has a full First Aid qualification and a professional full liability insurance certificate.
Aly's teaching has been based, mostly, in New Zealand, where she has spent the last 21 years of her life. Her teaching has been aimed to apply physical and supported alignment within Hatha flow, Pure Hatha, Vinyasa flow, Yin and Restorative yoga practice. Her teachings have crossed many studios and health centres across the South Island of New Zealand and this has allowed her to work with a huge cross section of communities with all abilities, age and beliefs. Aly's intention has been to draw people's awareness to yoga and assist her students in cultivating their own practice.
Aly has offered workshops, classes and Masterclasses both in Christchurch and North Canterbury in New Zealand and aside from her group teaching, has also given one on one tuition.
Recently, Aly has returned to be settled in England, to further share her love of yoga and allow her to develop her own further education. Aly is based close to Colchester, and is teaching at various studios within the area, as well as studying towards her 500 hours of teacher training.
In the spare time that Aly has, she devotes it to spending time with her two sons, Noah and Leo. Aly's ongoing passion of horses still remains present and she frequently attends equine clinics, rider training and spends time with fellow equestrians to assist riders with yoga.
One-to-one private tuition with Aly is available.
Alyson has been a teacher, a mentor, and an inspiration to me since I started regularly attending her yoga classes. With her strong fitness and anatomical background, and her gentle, warm, compassionate nature, Aly manages to blend the two sides together into some of the most flowing, rewarding and rejuvenating classes I have ever experienced.
Since being a student of Aly, my state of mind, and health has transformed on so many levels enabling me to feel more grounded, balanced, and at ease with life. On a physical level, Aly has helped me move from a more gentle style of yoga, to build more strength and stamina through her more dynamic vinyasa sequences. She guides you to push your boundaries, and expand your practice, whilst always listening to your body.
As a yoga teacher myself, Aly has taught me so much, especially about vinyasa, and has been a constant form of support and love, always encouraging me to grow. Thank you so much Aly - Simone Andersen - Certified Yoga Teacher (Dip. Yoga) - New Zealand and Australia
Ally's knowledge and tutelage are excellent and she has the ability to make classes accessible to all levels giving you the option to challenge yourself or take a more gentle practice. I find her ‘flow’ method logical and therefore, once you have attended a couple of her classes, it is easy to just ‘go with the flow’ – not get left behind or wonder why you can’t keep up. Ally has a lovely gentle manner which creates a really pleasant class environment and I would highly recommend her classes and or teachings for yoga enthusiasts of all levels. Gerry - New Zealand
I started Yoga about 5 years ago. I was still jogging most days, but stretching was a non event at that time. I had extremely tight hamstrings as a result and so Yoga was challenging back then but it provided me a peaceful tranquil time, although tough. Slowly I developed a love for Yoga which seemed nurturing instead of the addiction that I had to running which provided an initial high but soon disappeared. Through Aly's tuition I have gained strength from my body while my mental state took its time.
I now attend three classes per week which I combine with hill walking and a daily 5 minute home stretching routine. I have tried six different Yoga teachers over the years, and whilst Aly's yoga workout has been challenging and thought provoking it is achievable for any age. At my age of 64 to actually feel I can move better than I did last year makes my life feel great! There are not many areas that get better as we age, but I am proof that yoga with Aly can make this happen!! Very appreciative, ever learning student - Glenda Prokopavicius - New Zealand
Thank you so much for sharing the Yin sequences and affirmations, it’s wonderful. I am so looking forward to continuing my Yin journey with your guidance in 2020. You are such a kind and brilliant teacher and I am very grateful for the care you take to create a welcoming and nurturing space for us to practice. I absolutely love your classes as you can probably tell - on my mat in your class is the only time in the week I feel fully in the moment, so thank you.
