Whilst I have been involved in health and wellness for over 38 years, it is the last 18 years that have been devoted to practicing my own Sadhana, (sustained practice) and to offering the teachings of Yoga.
Born in Yorkshire, North of England, amidst the rugged and industrial market town of Normanton (Norman-tun), I spent my childhood around the farms and heathlands, riding rugged Mountain and Moorland ponies, baling hay and playing freely, connecting to the land and the broader Earth. As a teen, I took work in health and wellness, both a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, to help overcome my introverted shyness; this also led me to pursue bodybuilding, cycling, swimming and running. In my twenties, I moved to Christchurch, New Zealand, for love and adventure and, to heal from the tragedy of my beloved mother's untimely death. It was here, that I discovered the path of devotion to Yoga practices and, a personal deep-healing meditation practice. This awakened my curiosity to dip into study with many seasoned teachers, such as, Katie Lane, Noah Mazé and Donna Farhi, before I eventually found my own teacher (Guru)kul, Anita Sundaram. As I evolved as a student, through her teachings, this helped to foster my own Svadharma (personal purpose), which was to offer education, insight and informed support, to those who also wished to cultivate their unique path of discovery, healing and interconnectedness. My teachings have crossed many Yoga studio locations, and this has gifted me opportunities to work with all diversities, abilities, ages and beliefs, for which I am deeply grateful. Always inspired by a sense of belonging and creativity, I continue to learn, love, and, bring to life the powerful nature of Yoga practices, where everyone belongs. I regularly lead soul-based workshops, on-line teaching courses and private Yoga tuition, both in-person and on-line. Whilst living in New Zealand, I also had the pleasure of raising my two sons, Noah and Leo. My journey of motherhood, and all of its own trials and teachings, inspired me to begin writing poetry, yet, it wasn't until the Covid19 pandemic of 2020, that I began to use my words and poetry as cathartic release and, to accompany my work. I am always curious, always humbled and whether a student myself, or teaching Yoga, it is from my heart that I try to foster compassion and understanding for all beings. "I believe that when fully connected to what we love deeply, then that is the meaning of an amazing and beautiful life" ~ Aly ~ |

Testimonials
Aly has been a teacher, a mentor, and an inspiration to me since I started regularly attending her yoga classes. With her strong fitness and anatomical background, and her gentle, warm, compassionate nature, Aly manages to blend the two sides together into some of the most flowing, rewarding and rejuvenating classes I have ever experienced.
Since being a student of Aly, my state of mind, and health has transformed on so many levels enabling me to feel more grounded, balanced, and at ease with life. On a physical level, Aly has helped me move from a more gentle style of yoga, to build more strength and stamina through her more dynamic vinyasa sequences. She guides you to explore your boundaries, and expand your practice, whilst always listening to your body.
As a yoga teacher myself, Aly has taught me so much, especially about vinyasa, and has been a constant form of support and love, always encouraging me to grow. Thank you so much Aly. Simone Andersen - Certified Yoga Teacher (Dip. Yoga) - Australia and New Zealand
Aly's knowledge and tutelage are excellent and she has the ability to make classes accessible to all levels giving you the option to challenge yourself or take a more gentle practice. I find her ‘flow’ method logical and therefore, once you have attended a couple of her classes, it is easy to just ‘go with the flow’ – not get left behind or wonder why you can’t keep up. Aly has a lovely gentle manner which creates a really pleasant class environment and I would highly recommend her classes and or teachings for yoga enthusiasts of all levels. Gerry - New Zealand
My practice has expanded in so many ways since I began my Yoga journey with Aly a few years ago. I come to the mat open minded, open hearted and ready to absorb her wonderful knowledge, energy and authenticity. I have always enjoyed what Yoga does for me physically, but with Aly I have learnt more about its benefits for heart, mind and spirit too. During the lockdowns her classes migrated online and her connection to her students, despite not being in person, was a lifeline. Thank you Aly. Clare A - United Kingdom
Thank you so much for sharing Yin Yoga sequences and affirmations, it’s wonderful. I am so looking forward to continuing my Yoga journey with your guidance. You are such a kind and brilliant teacher and I am very grateful for the care you take to create a welcoming and nurturing space for us to practice. I absolutely love your classes as you can probably tell - on my mat in your class is the only time in the week I feel fully in the moment, so thank you.
